Okinawa Kobudo weapons

This category presents a range of mostly wooden training tools modelled after okinawian originals. Bo, Eku, Tonfa, Kama, Rochin, Timbe ...

Roku Shaku Bō
  • various types of cross-section
  • reduced risk of breakage
  • quality workmanship
  • traditional surface treatment
  • long-lasting training equipment

Roku Shaku Bō = 6 Shaku
1 Shaku = 30,303 cm

Fighting sticks in various lengths. Finest selected woods are brought into the desired cross-section – even with a cone where requested. The ends can be decorated and are given an unobtrusive Kanji signature.

The stick is a versatile and sometimes also indispensable training device. Whether as an aid for body weight exercises or as a weapon, for young children to measure their strength, at an old age as a walking aid or in the tropics as a means of defence against snakes.

As a weapon, it is often part of other types of weapons: Bo > Naginata, or these weapons can easily imitate these weapons in training:
Hanbo > Bokken / Katana. Yet not all types and shapes of wood are suitable for tough kumites!

I need the following details for the manufacturing process:

  • colour / type of wood?
  • cross-section / taper
  • hard contact in training?
  • desired decoration?

Tonfā
  • inseparable wooden connection
  • beautiful, ergonomic handle
  • shape as required
  • natural surface protection
  • long lasting and durable

For this weapon, I focus particularly on the wooden connection, which is wedged twice and therefore inseparable and additionally secured with a cotter pin. A beautiful handle profile and individual mono-uchi are further features of this product.

The Tonfā  probably originated from the crank handles of small stone grain mills, which were first used by nomads and later by the military. Similarly, cranks can also be found on chunken. Today, as a baton, it is not only the go-to-weapon used by the police forces but as a widespread kobudo weapon that is traditionally used as a pair.
The crank design ranges from functional to opulent.

I need the following details for the manufacturing process:

  • hand width?
  • forearm length from thumb to elbow?
  • type of wood?

  • hard contact during training?
  • desired shape and decoration?

Jō / Hanbō
  • various types of cross-section
  • reduced risk of breakage
  • quality workmanship
  • traditional surface treatment
  • long-lasting training equipment

Jō = 4-5 Shaku
Hanbō = 3 Shaku
1 Shaku = 30,303 cm

Eku
  • Product of noble quality
  • Saki and Mono-Uchi your choice
  • straight grown wood
  • water-resistant sealing
  • pure natural product

Length: 6 Shaku
1 Shaku = 30,303 cm

Fine surfaces and straight grown wood make this paddle not only durable but also give it a really high quality appearance. The shape of the Mono Uchi can be chosen and decoration on the handle ends are also possible.

Paddles are typically known as Okinawan wooden weapons. And this isn’t surprising when you consider that it is an insular race and all martial arts influence originates from other coastal races. In principle, this converted every day item enables the same shapes and techniques as with Roku-Shaku-Bo. Besides that, the Mono-Uchi has an increased power of impact and the Saki can be used to whip up sand.

  • colour / types of wood?

Kama
  • Training model with wooden blade
  • Metal blades for Kata and Tameshigiri
  • individual handle manufacturing
  • Ryu-Ha special forms

The origins of the combative use of harvest sickles lie in everyday use in rice cultivation and are throughout to find the Asian region. Japanese and Ryukyu Kama are characterized by a straight handle and less curved blades.

Kama from Moku Buki are available in different handle cross sections and place particular emphasis on strength and stability between the blade and handle. The metal blades are forged in Japan and are also available in Damascus steel. I can also refurbish and re-sharpen historical blades upon request.

An optional wrap gives the Kama a more individual look and provides good haptic feedback when you grip the handle near the blades. Prices for 1 sickle.

Please note: Delivery with metal blades only as garden sickle and P18. Chain sickles are not manufactured because they are prohibited by law in Germany.

I need the following information for production:

  • Handle length and cross section?
  • Type of wood/color?
  • special Ryu-Ha or special forms?
  • hard contact in training?

Rochin
  • Metal or wooden blade
  • all Ryu-Ha forms
  • Windings, engravings
  • historical replica

The short spear 'Rochin' is used together with a shield 'Timbe'. Fighting with a short spear and a small shield has been handed down by the gladiotors and is also practiced in Indian Silat. On Okinawa, a billhook or Danto is sometimes used instead of a spear. A round embossed sheet of metal or, more likely, a straw basket or straw hat serves as a shield. The much-proclaimed turtle shell is more likely to be located in the area of folklore.

Spears can be manufactured individually to your specifications. Equipped with handle wrap or end knob, all handle cross sections are possible.

Coloring, engraving, combining different woods - Maybe a Rochin in the colors of your dojo?

The metal tips are from LARP supplies but can also be individually forged upon request. If desired, the blade can also be sharpened and polished.

Please note: Delivery with metal blades only P18.
